Succession Planning, sometimes also referred to as Continuity
Planning, includes the following:
- Identifying those positions that play a vital role in
the profitability and growth of your organization.
- Assessing the likelihood of planned or unplanned turnover
in each key position.
- Identifying potential internal replacements for each
key position.
- Assessing the “readiness status” of each
identified replacement.
- Identifying key positions with insufficient numbers
of replacements (typically, less than 3)
- Implementing accelerated development plans in order
to increase the pool of internal replacement candidates,
or
- Identifying individuals at other companies, competing
firms, etc., with the potential to fill key positions,
and developing strategies for recruiting these individuals.
